It is the last day the sun does not set in northern Norway. It is a foggy night. Suddenly, the midnight sun becomes visible in the distance, low above the horizon. An enchanting landscape appears, with sun, mountains, fog and with beautiful light. It is the soft hues of the sky that are mesmerising. It is the mist that gives atmosphere to it all. It is the silence, occasionally interrupted by the call of a curlew.
This work was made in Scandinavia, on the island of Andøya. Andøya belongs to the Vesterålen, an island group in the Arctic Circle region. In summer, the sun does not set here for some time. In winter, the sun does not rise here for some time. In summer, one can enjoy quite a few golden hours at night here, provided it is not too cloudy. The light has a beautiful quality. On Andøya, the sun can be seen from many places at night.
