The Skellig islands, Skellig Michael and Little Skellig, can only be reached by a special boat trip. they are inhabited only by masses'of seabirds, such as Gannets and puffins. In the sixth century, a group of monks built a monastic village on Skellig Michael with beehive-shaped stone huts. The island was inhabited until the year 1200. The islands are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
