The Tokyo Skytree is a 634 meter high television tower in Sumida, Tokyo, Japan and also the tallest building in Japan.
The tower was designed by the architectural firm Nikken Sekkei. From the tower, the signals from digital television broadcasts are distributed. The older Tokyo engines, with their 333 metres, were no longer high enough to obtain sufficient coverage between the ever-higher buildings, especially in Central Tokyo. The Tokyo Skytree is by far the tallest building in Tokyo, making the surrounding buildings much less influential.
