Literally translated, Malá Strana means "little side. This is one of the oldest parts of Prague and the neighborhood lies between Prague Castle and the river 'The Moldau'.
The history of the Malá Strana begins with the arrival of the Prague Castle after which, due to its favorable location, the neighborhood quickly grew into an important center of international trade.
St. Nicholas Church
In the distance you can see St. Nicholas Church which was built between 1732 and 1737. The impressive baroque-style design is by architect Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas of Myra about whom I already blogged in December: 'St. Nicholas: bishop from Turkey or pagan Wodan?'
