It is the end of May. The day is over; the birds that have perched on the mud flats are slowly settling down. In the distance, on the Wadden Islands, the lights of the lighthouses go on. In the sky, the last colours of the sunset slip away into the blue hour. I set up my tripod behind the Frisian dyke near Westhoek. The sun has set and I would still like to take a nice mood shot with these pink and blue pastel shades. The only way to do that is with a long shutter speed. I exposed the image for 30 seconds at f/9 and ISO 200 with a 100-400 mm lens at 100 mm.
