For work, I got to visit Hong Kong again, one of my favourite cities in the Far East. It is a wonderful city to enjoy wandering the streets with my camera.
This time I went out in Kowloon, mainland China. Whereas on Hong Kong Island you see a lot of European influences, here it is completely different. Besides the photogenic buildings with sometimes beautiful symmetry, you also see many small streets with markets and local eateries here.
Especially at night, it comes alive here and with the neon lights on, it becomes really atmospheric. I had devised a route that would pass through a street with the requisite neon signs on the wall. Eventually I came to the point in the picture and that was exactly what I had in mind to capture with my camera.
After setting everything up, it was waiting for the right moment. Patience is a virtue, especially with photography but the wait was rewarded, no traffic and people on set for a while so this was my moment.
As always, I edit my photos taken on the road at home at my desk. There I have access to a fast computer, a large screen, a Wacom drawing tablet and several software packages, to make the photo suitable for your wall.
