About ‘Kolmanskop, Namibia’ by Martijn Smeets
The desert landscape at the far end of the ghost town of Kolmanskop. The famous village is near Lüderitz and in the so-called Sperrgebiet, a vast area that cannot be entered because of diamond mines. Kolmanskop has been deserted since 1958 and is slowly being taken over by the desert sands.

In my free work I combine my passion for travel with my great love photography. Landscapes and nature cover the majority of the works offered here, from the winter landscapes of Norway to the tropical jungles of Costa Rica. And, not to forget, pictures of my city: Rotterdam.
