One of the most famous areas on the New Zealand South Island is Mount Cook N.P.
Mount Cook, also called Aoraki, with its 3754 meters altitude is the highest mountain in New Zealand. The national park with its more than 700 square km and 19 mountain peaks higher than 3000 meters is a real walking paradise. There are several beautiful walks through the park. This relatively flat hike takes you in about 3 hours via several lakes and a glacier to a lake full of icebergs. During this hike you will have a continuous view on the magnificent Mount Cook.
