Hong Kong is a city I love to visit. Not just because of the energy and rhythm, but mainly because I can go all out photographically here. The skyline, the skyscrapers, the architecture, everything is grand, dynamic and visually challenging. Every angle offers a new perspective.
For this photo, I chose a vantage point on the Kowloon side, overlooking Hong Kong's impressive skyline. To capture the whole picture properly, I took several shots that I later merged into one panorama in Lightroom. This gives the viewer a broad and powerful image of the city, showing off its scale and layering.
The weather cooperated: a slightly overcast sky added depth and atmosphere, without losing sight of the buildings. The lines of the architecture, the variation in heights and shapes, and the mountains in the background complete the picture.
At home, the second part of the process began: selecting and editing the photo to make it suitable for my shop at Werk aan de Muur. Contrast, sharpness and colour had to match what I was feeling there. When that succeeded, I knew the work was finished.
A piece of Hong Kong, captured in a panorama that shows the city as I experience it: grand, vibrant and full of visual power. Maybe it will bring some metropolis to your wall too.
