About ‘Legendarium’ by Ellen Borggreve

These trees looked like prehistoric creatures with their roots above ground. In a way they look very fragile and they make you wonder how they can stay upright, one the other hand they show the ingenuity of nature to survive. These ent like trees don't look eerie because they were photographed in amazing conditions which I have only seen once. It was slightly misty, but it was a luminous kind of fog which was then backlit by golden light of the rising sun l making the background yellow. The fog turned into a shade of green due to the reflections of the spring leaves. Sometimes this can be a very striking effect, but in this case it was subtle and soft, which is how I like it. I was working on my roots project at the time and to be honest, I have never seen the Tolkien movies and the word Ents was unknown to me. I photographed roots because I was struggling to find mine. These trees to me represent strength and adaptation to the challenges and that really speaks to me

Ellen Borggreve is a landscape photographer and author of Woodscapes and Praxisbuch Wälder fotografieren, among others. She was born and raised in the woods of the Veluwe where her love for trees originated. Besides forests she also likes to photograph Dutch coastal scenes.

The focus is on tranquil scenes that seem to lie outside everyday reality, without people in the picture, with subjects that are about to disappear often being the subject. The fleeting patterns…

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
